Aaand victory! I knew McCormack was doing a bloody good job.

Excellent game, though, Hufflepuffs. It was a pleasure.

Now I can move on to the next matter, which involves holiday gifts for the family. I believe something special is in order for the newest members of my sister's family, and that, of course, means a fair amount of planning. That then translates into a nice little time commitment.

It's really a pity that our beloved instructors wouldn't see it in their hearts to lighten up the assignments in honor of such a momentous occasion.

It's finally the day for the match with Hufflepuff. I'm going to have an excruciating time of it, waiting for this evening. I just don't want to sit still.

May the best team win.

Since I heard it was your birthday, Lupin, have a good one. Try to have a little fun, although I don't think you'll have any troubles, given your chosen companions.

Huh. I'd have thought that Gryffindor would take that match. But then, it seemed to be a sort of emotional game, and regardless of other factors, that always makes for some surprises.

It was difficult, at times, to be a spectator. It always makes me itch to participate in a match, myself. But perhaps the next month or so will get on with it and scurry on past.

And that said, it's back to the books.

I could have sworn that my dear brother had gotten one of these lovely little contraptions. Nothing to say, eh, Fabian? Or are you too busy causing trouble?

There are just three days until Ravenclaw's Quidditch tryouts. I'm rather eager to see what sort of new talent we can dig up. But no matter what, I'm certain that McCormack will take her job seriously, so we're in good hands.

[mood | content]

Birthday offerings are still being accepted; it's not too late.

I jest. When it comes right down to it, a few extra belongings aren't exceedingly important. A birthday is a lovely thing and all, but when you stand back and look at it, it's just a day like any other.

I did receive a much-cherished little homemade something from Molly, though. She really didn't have to send anything; I know that budgets can be tight for a growing family. But still, it's always very nice to get a letter from her, and to know she's doing well. I owled her back with a nice, long reply.

Lo and behold, a Ravenclaw has emerged from amid a mass of papers resulting from his professor-imposed quest for enlightenment. I adore my housemates, but that's more than I can say for them so far.

It seems that the Quidditch talk has started. That's fine with me; I'm fairly eager to see things start off myself, actually. It will balance nicely with all this work.

I do try to keep a level head, but I think a few more derogatory mentions of the Weasleys will make me a much more vocal ally of the Gryffindors. The Weasleys are good people, and my sister wouldn't have chosen one if they weren't. Really, take a long look at yourself before you begin throwing stones. It's about decency, not wealth and class.

And now, my disjoint ramblings have made it clear that I should return to my work.

Well, I've settled in for another year. This will be an interesting one, I think. Tensions seem to be running even higher than usual already.

Being a Ravenclaw and therefore somewhat outside the scope of most of the arguments, I've kept mostly out of things up until now. I'm not so certain how long I'll be able to keep it that way. I do have certain opinions regarding the matter at hand.

Has anyone else noticed how young the first years look? I never thought much of it until this year. It's to be expected, though.

I will now hop on this popular train of thought that has been applied to other houses, and wonder why it is that more Ravenclaws have not tried out these journals. When it comes right down to it, the writing and recording element should be an opportunity after our own hearts.

Ah, well. I'll have to write enough for all of us.

and here we are [Jul. 18th, 2004|02:57 pm]
I must admit that my very favorite part of school is the time before it's actually started. My supplies are gathered, but everything is wonderfully untouched. (Alright, you've caught me. I've touched the books. I am a Ravenclaw, after all, and curiosity had gripped me as to whether we'd be learning... Well, never mind that. I'll have to bring my research elsewhere.)

I'll rather miss that feeling once this year is over, I think.

My dearest mother has seen fit to inform me that I had better curb my clever tongue when I seek employment. I told her that my clever tongue has excellent skills at curbing itself when I am at school, and that I trust it entirely to continue its good judgment.
